Those kidders...

Another Wizard World Austin sketch. Another friend and CBS member Killian asked for this one. I think the concept is much better than the actual piece itself. I might have to revisit this idea and do it justice next time.

Breaking Stuff

Drew this at Wizard World Austin Con, which was a blast. My friend and table-mate Chavez suggested drawing Gridgeon jumping through a window all badass and heroic like. But he's not exactly the kind of guy to do that, so instead he's getting thrown through the window. Sorry buddy.

Steal My Thunder

This is sort of a tribute to my favourite writer and preview to something I'll be doing just for the fun of it/so I can show some pages of something other than Gridgeon in my portfolio.

I won't go too far into this for now, but its a slight design change of Captain Marvel. The page this was preparing for will be put on devart once it's finished.

Returned

So its been a long long time since I've posted. Part of it was being busy with a million projects this past fall, and the first thing to go was the daily sketch, and then the blog all together.

But I've come back, mostly on top. A lot has happened in the past 4 months, some of which I'll elaborate on in coming posts. So to wrap this up, I'll be posting every now and then. It won't go back to a daily sketch, but it'll be relatively often.

Green Thinking

I had been thinking about this sketch for a long long time. I've always liked lightbulb heads, but I have yet to see an energy saving lightbulb head.

"You know whats faster than a plane?"

I drew this right after seeing Despicable Me. Pretty decent, but not the best. But this was definitely inspired in some ways by the movie. And it reminded me of something my girlfriend and I over heard a dumb kid say on our plane back from San Francisco a few months ago. The conversation with his disinterested mom went as such:

Kid: "You know what's faster than this plane?"
Mom: "*grumble* huh?"
Kid: "A helicopter."
Mom: "Um, I don't think so."
Kid: "You know whats faster than a helicopter?"
Mom: "*grumblegrumble*"
Kid: "A jet!"

To bad the kid wasn't told that just about all planes used these days, including the one we were on, WAS a jet. Or, you know, the fact that helicopters are NOT known to be faster than planes. Oh kids, sometimes they say the darndest things, and sometimes they make you wonder how the human race is going to survive. Good times.
